Jacobs awarded BSU Faculty and Staff Advisor of the Year

Michelle Jacobs, MD was awarded the Faculty and Staff Advisor of the Year Award from the University of Florida Black Student Union (BSU). Dr. Jacobs was recognized at the 5th Annual Black Community Awards (BCA) held April 23rd at the Reitz Union on the University of Florida campus.

The BCA’s serve as an award show in honor of black faculty members and students at the University of Florida who have demonstrated excellence in a variety of areas. The award show also featured performances from members of the black community who displayed their artistic and creative talents to the University of Florida. This event allows the black community to come together and recognize all of the outstanding accomplishments and innovation on campus throughout the year.

The BSU was founded in 1968, ten years after the university’s integration. The BSU came about as a social organization and support system for Black students at UF. The organization grew into serving as a voice for issues affecting Black students on campus.
