Sang-wahn Koo, MD

Assistant Professor and Chief of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

Dr. Koo graduated from Yonsei University School of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. He then came to the US where he completed his general psychiatry residency at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma and child and adolescent psychiatric fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Koo’s clinical interests are in ADHD, Autism, mood disorders, and psychotic disorders. He will join our faculty at the Center for Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in Vero Beach as an Assistant Professor and Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.


Kevin Shacket, Psy.D.

Postdoctoral Associate

Kevin Shacket, Psy.D. has joined the Center for Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in Vero Beach as an Adjunct Clinical Postdoctoral Associate. He will be supervised by Peter Gold, Psy.D.

 Dr. Shacket completed his undergraduate course work at the University of Central Florida and his graduate training at Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale. While at Nova Southeastern, he pursued a joint-degree, earning an MBA while in the Clinical Psychology program.

Dr. Shacket was as an Adjunct Faculty member at Broward College where he taught General Psychology, Child & Adolescent Development, and Human Growth and Development courses. He has experience facilitating group and individual therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Shacket has spent time working at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Miami and the Broward Health Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale.


David Jaegar

Administrative Support Assistant III - Addiction Medicine

David joins the Department of Psychiatry after working as a Business Office Manager for the Florida Recovery Center.  David’s new role keeps him on the FRC campus, overseeing the outpatient clinic, coordinating the ADM fellows, and acting as the administrative assistant to the Medical Director, Dr. Scott Teitelbaum.  David is very excited to continue working alongside such bright minds and be a part of a team that is so passionate about helping people on their path to recovery.

Mindfulness Relaxation Minutes 

Beatriz Elena de Bruna will be our Mindfulness Facilitator for October

Beatriz Elena de Bruna has taught meditation for over sixteen years in both English and Spanish. She studied with meditation teachers from many practices, and after participating in the "Teacher Development Intensive" at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School her focus has been Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). She offers mindfulness courses in English or Spanish (or bilingual) for group and individual instruction at a variety of locations including community centers, health centers, homes, and hospitals.
