FRC Family Workshop Days

Dr. Teitelbaum, Dr. Groper, and Rachel Waters, LMHC educate family members at the Florida Recovery Center's Family Workshop. 

The family workshop at FRC is a two-day program designed to educate family members about the disease of addiction and the recovery process. The workshop teaches family members about the medical component of the disease of addiction and the impact the disease has on the family system. Participants experience educational lectures, process groups and learn new skills for family recovery.

It was nice to see Jessica Prowell, MD at the AACAP conference in Washington, DC and hear what she's up to now!

Dr. Prowell is in private practice in Athens, Georgia. She is the psychiatrist at Athens Psychological Services. Her General Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship training were both completed at the University of Florida.  During her training she served as Chief Fellow, receiving the Ralph Maurer Award for Excellence in Child Psychiatry.  After completing psychiatric training, Dr. Prowell and her family were excited to return home to Georgia and rejoin the Athens community.  

Dr. Prowell specializes in evaluation and management of ADHD, depressive and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.  Her practice focuses on patients ranging in age from 2 up to and including 17 years of age.  Her philosophy includes treating each patient as an individual, and utilizing each patient's strengths and needs to develop an individualized treatment plan that includes the support of family and community services in addition to behavioral and medical interventions.

This is the time of year when you can make changes to your insurance plans. But if you don’t take any action, you’ll automatically remain in the plans you chose last year if they are still offered.

Some dental plans have been discontinued, and new plans are now available. Participants in discontinued plans will need to make an election for a new dental plan to have dental coverage in 2018.

Sijie Tan, PhD

Visiting Scholar Fellow, China Scholarship Council 

We would like to welcome Sijie Tan, PhD, Visiting Scholar Fellow, China Scholarship Council. Dr. Tan will be working with Adriaan Bruijnzeel, PhD for the next year.

Dr. Tan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Histology and Embryology at the University of South China, School of Medicine. He earned his PhD in Anatomy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at Yunnan University.

It’s important to stay active throughout the work day to wake up your muscles and metabolism and get the blood flowing. Refresh yourself with the spelling workout! 

Come up with three words that describe you. Use this handout to see which exercise each letter correlates to. Then perform the workout for each word throughout the day.


Fall Walking Challenge 

The four week walking challenge encourages coworkers to get up and get moving! The goal is to move more throughout the day, whether it be parking further away, taking a walk during lunch, or doing an exercise video at home. Participants and teams track and record their daily steps throughout the challenge.

Mindfulness Relaxation Minutes 

Genevieve Camp will be our Mindfulness Facilitator for November

Genevieve Camp completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training and 100 hour yoga nidra facilitator training at the Amrit Yoga Institute in Salt Springs, FL.
