McKnight Brain Institute 20th Anniversary Celebration


For the fifth year in a row the Quilters of Alachua County Day Guild have donated quilts and pillow cases for the UF Health Psychiatric Hospital. These beautiful gifts were distributed to patients on the child and adolescent unit, the geriatric psychiatry unit, and Unit 52.


Hope you all enjoyed your holiday baskets. The elves in the fiscal office had fun making them for your office. 


The MBI and Fiscal office held their Annual Ugly Sweater Party on December 14th. Above are all the contestants. Congratulations to Sammi LeClair the Ugliest Sweater at the party. 


The Springhill 2 Clinic got into the holiday spirit with a Holiday Bake Off. There were several entries but only one winner. Congratulations to Shameka Mobley with her Amazing Vanilla Cake.

Individuals who cannot be vaccinated or decline vaccination are now required to wear procedure masks or surgical masks in posted areas.

Mindful Relaxation Minutes 

January Mindfulness Leader:

Carol Lewis, PhD, MPH, CPH

Carol Lewis, PhD, MPH is a clinical psychologist who has training in 3 mindfulness-based programs – Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  Dr. Lewis uses mindfulness strategies extensively in her clinical work.  As a public health practitioner, Dr. Lewis is working on developing low-intensity, easily accessible mindfulness-based treatment strategies.  She is also a regular meditator and yoga practitioner, who meditates with a Thich Nhat Hanh –based meditation group, and retreats yearly.
