Michael Bilak, MD

For our September Quality and Safety Star Award, we are honoring Dr. Michael Bilak. We were recently given feedback from nursing leadership that Dr. Bilak demonstrates excellent communication with patients and staff. His patient care was noted to be prompt and efficient which leads to increased patient and staff satisfaction and improved ER throughout all important quality metrics. Thank you, Dr. Bilak, for your outstanding service and for being a quality and safety star!

David Roberts

We would like to recognize David Roberts for the October Spotlight. David has been an excellent team player since he joined the department of Psychiatry. He has worked on a number of new projects and programs and has done a great job. 

This summer David served as coverage for our Webmaster, Melinda Fawcett. Along with his regular duties, David maintained the department website, helped with social media, ran Mindful Minutes and became our Zoom expert and during the potential Hurricane Dorian was the MBI point person.  We just want to thank you for going the extra mile, your flexibility and support to the department.

TAA Young Investigator Award

The Tourette Association of America aims to encourage early career researchers to invest their efforts and expertise in increasing the biological understanding of Tourette Syndrome, pursuing clinical research aimed at improving patient care, and developing and testing new therapies. To this end, the TAA is offering Young Investigator Awards in hopes of fulfilling this goal.

Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (CAN)

You may have heard the buzz about a new Center referred to as CAN, the Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment Disorders. CAN provides centralized and state of the art transdisciplinary diagnostic and clinical treatment services for children and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Piloting Lunchtime Fitness Class, Health Science Center

The UF Wellness team is piloting a lunchtime fitness class in the Communicore (next to the main hospital and HPNP) starting September 3rd. The class will run every Tuesday from 12:15-12:45 and will be a high intensity interval training (HIIT) style class.

Outdoor Fitness Adventure

Join Morgan for an outdoor fitness adventure! This class will combine strength training and cardio to give you a full body workout utilizing your own body weight, resistance bands, dumbbells and the stadium itself! Exercises will be modified for all levels.

Mindful Relaxation Minutes

Beatriz Elena de Bruna

Beatriz Elena de Bruna has taught meditation for over twenty years in both English and Spanish. She studied with meditation teachers from many practices, and after participating in the "Teacher Development Intensive" at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School her focus has been Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). She offers mindfulness courses in English or Spanish (or bilingual) for group and individual instruction at a variety of locations including community centers, health centers, homes, and hospitals.
